We build tools that let anyone have a real conversation in any language — without learning it, without delay, and without awkward pauses.
Babel was started by a small team who spent years watching friends, family, and strangers get stuck at the seams between languages — in hospitals, at borders, across dinner tables. The tools available were clumsy, slow, or designed for one person shouting into their phone. We wanted something that respected the shape of a real conversation: two people, taking turns.
